Isabelle H Kelsey recognized with Boston Post Cane

Isabelle H Kelsey was presented the Boston Post Cane on July 19, 2023, by Town Clerk Deborah Barry, along with select board members, Jean Ambrose, and Jane Hubert.

Isabelle was born in Newcastle Maine on Oct 28, 1927. She moved to Pittston in January 1957. She was married to Kenneth E Kelsey until he passed away on March 30, 2015. She worked for various State Agencies, and 20 years at the VA Center in Togus, Me. In her early years, she worked with the PTA. She enjoyed helping with the dances with Marsha Troop once a month at the Old Town Hall for the little ones. She also worked with the Gardiner preschool groups as a volunteer. She has been a member of the Pittston Community Daughters for many years and the Riverside Cemetery Assoc in Pittston.

Isabelle says her most memorable moment in life was the birth of her 3 beautiful daughters, Brenda Griffin, Darlene Parker, and Carolyn Belanger. Another memorable moment was when she took an anniversary trip to Bermuda, a trip to Germany to see her little niece's baptism service, and at the same time a trip to Austria. She also traveled to California later on.

Isabelle has 2 grandchildren, Jennifer Belanger Bailey, and Shawn Belanger, and 4 great-grandchildren, Sierra Bailey and Dylan Bailey, Aurora, and Alexis Belanger, her siblings were Randall, Lucy, Burton, and Harry Jr, all deceased now. Her favorite things to do are reading, eating, raising, and tending her flower and vegetable gardens. She loves having her family's youngsters around. She liked golf, swimming, skiing, shopping, and attending church.
