NEW LAWS GOING IN EFFECT STARTING OCTOBER 18TH!

- JUNE 19TH WILL BE A PAID STATE HOLIDAY – JUNETEENTH – FREEDOM DAY
- NEW LIGHTHOUSE PLATES WILL BE AVAILABLE -$20 FIRST YEAR FEE, THEN $15 AFTER THAT.
- ALL VANITY PLATES THAT SUGGEST VIOLENCE, UNLAWFUL ACTIVITIES, PROFANE OR OBSCENE, DEROGATORY REFERENCE TO AGE, RACE, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, GENDER IDENTITY, RELIGION, PHYSICAL OR MENTAL DISABILITY, SEXUAL ACTS OR FORMS OF SLANG TERM WILL BE PULLED BY THE SECRETARY OF STATE. ANY NEW VANITY PLATES WILL NEED THE APPROVAL OF THE SECRETARY OF STATE.
- NEW LAW TO EXEMPT CERTAIN DISABLED VETERANS FROM VEHICLE EXCISE TAX. MUST HAVE A DV PLATE OR XV PLATE OR VX. 100% PERMANENTLY DISABLED. ONLY 1 VEHICLE WILL BE ALLOWED THE EXEMPTION. REGULAR VT PLATES ARE NOT ELIGIBLE UNLESS THE PERSON IS RECEIVING 100% PERM DISABILITY CHECKS, AND HAS A PAPER FROM VA STATING THAT.
- GOLD STAR FAMILY REGISTRATION PLATES WILL HAVE FREE ENTRY TO THE STATE PARKS AND HISTORIC SITES. ONE DAY ONLY AND DOES NOT INCLUDE CAMPING.
