Who can vote for whom in June 9 primary?--- an explanation

From the Town Clerk:

As this is a Primary Election, I wanted to clear up some confusion about voting, especially as an "Independent" voter.

Many register to vote as "Green Independent," thinking they are registering as "Independent." That, however, is not the case. "Green Independent" is a party affiliation. "Independent" voters are not affiliated with any political party. In Maine, they are called "Unenrolled" voters. "Unenrolled" voters may choose which Primary ballot they want to cast. I am adding a quick guide for the State Primary Election on June 9th.

Additionally, the deadline to change party enrollment is Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
