Gardiner Public Library

The Gardiner Public Library is located at 152 Water Street in Gardiner, ME. It is the objective of the library to assemble, preserve, and circulate books and related materials necessary to provide information, self-education, and recreation for the enlightenment, entertainment, intellectual, and cultural development of the community. The library recognizes its responsibility to identify community needs, to promote the use of library services for adults and children, and to serve the community as a center for reliable information in various formats.

All residents are entitled to a library card and the Gardiner Public Library is happy to serve you. The Gardiner Public Library is grateful for the support of our community members and elected officials.

LIBRARY OPERATING HOURS

As of February 2022, the library building is open to the public at the following times:

  • Monday through Friday: 10:00am-5:30pm
  • Saturday: 9:30am-12:30pm

 BORROWING ITEMS FROM THE LIBRARY

The library houses a collection of over 45,000 physical items, including books for all ages, audiobooks, music CDs, DVDs, and much more. The library is also a member of the Minerva shared library catalog, which includes over 6 million physical items from more than 60 Maine libraries. DIGITAL LIBRARY

In addition to the physical collection, the Gardiner Public Library offers a number of digital services that active library card holders can access from the comfort of their homes. All items in our Digital Library can be borrowed free of charge. Our Digital Library can found at https://gardinerpubliclibrary.org/digitallibrary and includes the following services:

  •  Hoopla: borrow digital movies, music, eBooks, comics and more with Hoopla. Items borrowed from Hoopla can be viewed on most smartphones, tablets, computers, and smart TVs.
  • cloudLibrary: borrow eBooks and eAudiobooks that can be viewed on most smartphones, tablets, & computers.
  • Digital Archives of the Gardiner Public Library: Free access to the historic newspapers of the Kennebec region.
  • Digital Maine Library: access to digital resources like Ancestry & the Digital Maine Repository (via Maine State Library)
