This is a brief summary of annual Town Meetings and Special Town Meetings over the last several years. Annual Meeting is usually held on the 3rd Saturday in March and all financial decisions and proposed ordinance changes are made there.

June 18, 2025 -- Special Town Meeting -- fund Hatch Hill until end of June 2026?  after about 20 minutes, voters approved it

May 14, 2025 -- Special Town Meeting -- amend Building ordinance? 33 minute meeting and passes by vote 11 to 10

March 15, 2025 ----  Annual Town Meeting

October 2, 2024 -- Special Town Meeting -- adopted a solar energy facility moratorium 

Annual Town Meeting -- over 150 citizens take 2 hours to decide on 19 articles

February 22, 2024 -- Special Town Meeting -- rescind town Recall Ordinance? 90 minute meeting between Town Office and then School with 137 citizens. Article passed by large majority 

March 18, 2023 ----  Annual Town Meeting -- 92 citizens vote on 16 articles in 77 minutes

March 19, 2022 -- Annual Town Meeting--  84 citizens vote on 13 articles in just under 3 hours and pass 2 ordinances

February 23, 2022 -- Special Town Meeting -- using ARPA funds; 10 minute meeting with 8 people. Both articles passed unanimously  

April 28, 2021 -- Special Town Meeting -- ordinance on medical marijuana moratorium

March 20, 2021 -- Annual Town Meeting -- 

July 11, 2020 -- Annual Town Meeting (delayed)-- due to the COVID-19 pandemic, about 50 citizens met for only 30 minutes at the Pittston Fair Pulling Ring to consider 37 articles. A motion was made to consider all of them in one warrant article with one vote.

May 27, 2020 -- Special Town Meeting -- a handful of folks spent a few minutes to transfer money for recent culvert work

October 2, 2019 -- Special Town Meeting -- several citizens spent a few minutes to transfer $6,000.00 from monies received from tax-acquired property sale for the purpose of purchasing heat pumps for the Town Office

March 16, 2019 -- Annual Town Meeting -- almost 130 citizens met for 2 hours & 40 minutes to consider 35 articles under the guidance (and humor) of moderator Chris Cooper.  Extended discussion happened on the Gardiner Library, office staff hours, and a planned new Veterans' Memorial.    

December 20, 2018 -- Special Town Meeting -- less than a dozen citizens spent 7 minutes to transfer $8,259 from surplus to the Highway Account

October 17, 2018 -- Special Town Meeting -- about 10 citizens spend 5 minutes to pay a bill for eng'g for a culvert on Parker Road project

September 19, 2018 -- Special Town Meeting -- about 25 citizens spend 15 minutes to 1) approve funding of $35K for expenses related to a well claim due to chloride pollution from the town sand/salt building, and 2) to pay for repairs to recycling bins 

September 5, 2018 -- Special Town Meeting -- 40 citizens spent a half hour to discuss a well claim due to chloride pollution from the town sand/salt building.  Because of faulty wording of the article, the Meeting was rescheduled to Sept. 19, 2018

March 17, 2018 -- Annual Town Meeting -- 88 citizens met for 2 hours to consider 36 articles. All articles passed under the guidance (and humor) of moderator Chris Cooper.  Extended discussion happened on unpaid ambulance bills, septage spreading, and the Gardiner Library.  Fire Chief Jason Farris also noted that he will be stepping down as Fire Chief while still being a firefighter and that created a well deserved round of applause. 

January 31, 2018 -- Special Town Meeting -- about 40 citizens spent an hour debating several ordinances relating to road posting for heavy loads, driveway entrance permits, subdivisions, a building code side boundary detail, business development, and solid waste & recycling 

September 6, 2017 -- Special Town Meeting -- less than 10 citizens voted unanimously to use $1,088 from an eng'g account to help pay for a new Town Office security system 

March 18, 2017 -- Annual Town Meeting -- just over 100 citizens met for under 3 hours to consider 35 articles. All articles passed under the guidance of moderator Chris Cooper.  The "hot topic" was trash and ultimately voters decided to go back with Hatch Hill in Augusta.

February 8, 2017 -- Special Town Meeting -- to consider 2 articles: one to prohibit all retail marijuana business in town, and another, if needed, to pass a 6 month moratorium on all retail marijuana operations. About 40 people attended the 25 minute meeting and the 33 YES to 7 NO vote favored complete prohibition. 

October 26, 2016 -- Special Town Meeting -- to consider 3 articles: one to amend the tax-acquired property ordinance, one related to the animal control ordinance, and one to adopt a mailbox policy.  About 25 people attended the 30 minute meeting and each article passed.

April 27, 2016 -- Special Town Meeting -- to transfer funds for purchase of a heavy rescue truck for Fire Dep't.  37 people attended the 15 minute meeting and the vote was unanimous to pass the article.

March 19, 2016 -- Annual Town Meeting -- almost 100 folks met for 3 hours to consider 33 articles. All articles passed under the guidance of moderator Chris Cooper.  The Gardiner Library discussion took an hour and the replacement of the East Pittston Fire Station took 30 minutes.

December 2, 2015 -- Special Town Meeting --  to release $24,387.90 from Excise Tax acc't, the balance due for 2015 on the Blinn Hill Road Bridge/Culvert Project..... 9 voters passed it unanimously.

July 22, 2015 -- Special Town Meeting -- to amend the first tax due date to August 31, 2015.

March 21, 2015 -- Annual Town Meeting -- about 60 voters spent 2 1/4 hours and considered all 34 articles

March 15, 2014 -- Annual Town Meeting-- just under 100 residents met from 9:45 AM to 2:20 PM to discuss 45 articles. All articles pass as directed by new moderator Chris Cooper.

March 16, 2013-- Annual Town Meeting-- an overflow crowd of over 200 folks spent 3 hours in the School to cover 34 articles.  Most articles approved except for legal services.
